Mind map for my hometown west harrow
My Home town
My home town is West Harrow in the London borough of Harrow, in Greater London in the county of Middlesex. West Harrow is located on the western side of Harrow roughly covering the area to the west of Bessborough Road, to the south of Pinner Road, and to the north of Whitemore Road near Whitemore High School. Harrow on the Hill is located to the southeast of West Harrow and Harrow town centre is located to North East of West Harrow. To the west of West Harrow is Rayners Lane and to the north of West Harrow is North Harrow. Roxeth and South Harrow are located to the south of West Harrow. There is a park located in West Harrow known as West Harrow. West Harrow also has a train station located near West Harrow Park and it is called West Harrow train station. There is also a vehicle repair shop called West Harrow Garage which is located near West Harrow Train Station. There is also a Church located in West Harrow on Summer Road and it is known as St Peters Church. Before the early 20th century the area was mainly rural. The construction of the Uxbridge extension to the metropolitan line took place in 1904 and primarily the new West Harrow Tube Station caused a rapid growth of housing developments in the area, which was spread out from the location of the new station and gave the area a new identity. The population of the new identity is 10,373.

West Harrow is located in the London borough of Harrow and the logo for West Harrow is shown below
The slogan for Harrow is Salus populi suprema lex. This is taken from the Latin language and translates to "The well-being of the people is the highest law.
For my primary research, I asked a couple people who live on my road about their experience of living in West Harrow.
Jackie Distant (23 Twyford Road)= "My experience of living in West Harrow has been quite good. Me and my Family (husband, and 3 kids) have lived here since 2004 and I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The area is quite good as when my kids were little, whenever it was summer I could take them out to the park for a play about in West Harrow Park. This park is lovely. There is plenty of play equipment for the kids, and there is exercise equipment that can be used, there are 2 fields that are divided which is useful for people who have dogs and want to have a run about with them. To top it off there is a little shop in the park too, where you can get little snacks such as drinks, cakes, cookies, and sweets. Another great thing about West Harrow is that there are shops there too. For example, me and my family like to have fast food on Fridays, and up by Shaftesbury Circle there is Mcdonald's or the peri-peri chicken shop and lobster fish bar which sadly closed down in May this year. Whenever I need little bits for the house I can also go to Tesco's or even the convenience shops if I want snacks. If I need medicine I can also go to the Pharmacy by Shaftesbury Circle too. I overall enjoy living in this area and would recommend it to anybody looking for a new area to live in
Sharon Mills (44 Twyford Road)="I have lived in West Harrow on Twyford Road for 30 years and I can confidently say I have loved every minute of it. I first moved here in 1993 and though there have been many changes to the area, it has been for the better. Everybody around this area is really friendly and I am quite close to people around this area, especially my neighbors, to the point we have a whole Twyford Road WhatsApp group chat which we talk on often".
Michelle Francis= (38) Twyford Road="My life living in West Harrow has been great. I live on Welbeck Road with my husband and 2 sons and they love living here as well. I love this community as it is very warm and friendly. There is also a lot to do in Harrow for example the little fair they have in West Harrow Park every year in the summer or during the Christmas season they hold a sale on Whitmore Road and they sell Christmas deserts or general Christmas food and everybody sings carols and have a great time. I would recommend living in the west Harrow. It was quite a safe area as well. I have lived here since 2003 and barely any crime has taken place.
Color scheme
Evaluation
This is the color scheme I came up with. I plan to use these in my new idea of transport (bus design) and maybe in my new logo for Harrow. When choosing my color palette to get an idea of what colors would be best to use I researched several boroughs logo's including, Ealing, Harrow, Brent, Barnett, Croydon, and Haringey to get an idea of what colors and usually used. Black was a common feature to I decided to add that. Bright colors are also a common feature on borough logos which is why I decided to add light blue, yellow and green. Then for my final two colors I chose light brown and grey, i did this because I thought that those to colors best match the rest of my color palette.
Plan Logo
Evaluation
This is a ruff idea I made for my logo for the London borough of Harrow. I made this on the design app Illustartor. This is a ruff sketch of what I want my logo to be but it fits the idea of what I want my logo to be. This is because I want my logo to stand out so when when making this I chose the color which was most eye-catching to me which was the color turquoise. When doing this I also wrote in bubble writing. In the future when I make my official logo I would like to make something that looks a bit more professional looking and modernised or maybe add a graphic to it but this is a ruff idea of what I wanted to make.
New Transport
Evaluation
This is the bus I designed for my new idea for transport. I made this design on the design app Illustrator. When designing my bus, I wanted to create a new design of transport that was different and stood out. An idea that came to me was to add a unique color palette that was different to typical bus color palettes that are usually just plain red and black or yellow or overall just one or 2 colors. I decided to choose colors from the color palette I made which were made blue, black, green, yellow and grey. When coloring my bus one thing I was careful not to do was color the windows on the bus or color the part in the front of the bus where it says the bus is going as I wanted it to look professional. I didn't face any problems when making this design.
This is my new logo for Harrow
Evaluation
When I was making my logo for Harrow the first thing I did was research the current Harrow logo. I did this because I wanted to get inspiration for when I created my logo. When creating my logo I wanted to create something that stands out so I was very specific when choosing a color and a font. I wanted something eye-catching. I decided to go with a purple font because it seemed very fitting out of all the colors that were there. I also decided to add the 100 emoji. I did this to modernize the logo as emojis have become a big part of our generation and people of all ages use them which is why I put it in.
Slogan
Evaluation
When making my slogan for Harrow, like when I was making my logo I researched the current Harrow slogan to get inspiration and ideas for what I would want to do. On top of this, I also researched other boroughs and their slogans to get ideas and inspiration as well. I ended with the slogan I have because one thing I realized with a lot of borough slogans is that they all talk about the well-being of the people and connote that people will be comfortable there and what they want in the borough will be supplied. So for my slogan, I made it appeal to the public of Harrow as to why they should live here. I wanted to do this anyway though, because people are more likely to come to a borough and live there if they know that it is gonnabe somewhere where they are heard and looked after well.
Transport
For transport to Harrow, there are many ways to get there. There are several buses that are able to transport you to Harrow such as the 114, 140, 182, 183, 186, 223, 258, 340, 395, 483, 640, H9, H10, H11, H14, H17, H18, and H19. These buses all congregate at Harrow bus station. If you want to catch the train you should get the overground train or the West Midlands train. The tube you should get is the Metropolitan Line tube. You can also drive or take a cab/taxi to Harrow as well.
Advantages of Public Transport
Advantages of the bus
An advantage of taking the bus is that for people up to 18, it will be free to get on as long as they have a bus pass and even sometimes if you forget your bus pass the bus driver may still let you on. Many also consider it an advantage as they don't have to do any driving and they can sit back and enjoy the ride. You also don't have to worry about finding a parking space when you get to your destination. Buses are also known to tackle air pollution because the more people that are getting on the bus means fewer people drive which results in less pollution
Disadvantages of the bus
Sometimes the bus can cause inconveniences because there is traffic and also buses sometimes go on diversion (This means taking a different route) Sometimes diversion can be a good thing as the bus may take a different route that is quicker but sometimes it may cause inconvenience as the bus may take a slightly longer route. Buses can also be dirty and full of litter. The journey can also be delayed because of constant bus stopping.
Advantages of the train
Advantages of taking the train is that it goes quick as trains don't have to go through traffic. It is just a straightforward journey. Like the bus, you can just sit back and relax and enjoy your journey to wherever you want to go. There are less likely to be accidents when taking the train as opposed to a car or bus which are driving on the road where accidents can occur. Trains are also considered environmentally friendly. Railways are also considered reliable. You can get fast trains which don't stop and take you to 1 destination.
Disadvantages of taking the train.
Taking the train can get very hot in the summertime and has poor air conditioning. Like buses trains can cause inconveniences in your journey as sometimes trains can stop for a period at a stop due to trains traveling too close to each other. Sometimes when taking the train when it goes on certain tracks or tunnels the sound of the train gets really loud which can be hard for people with sensitive ears and even so the sound can be generally annoying.
Driving Advantages
When driving you have the freedom to go wherever you want whenever you want. When driving you do not have to wait for anything, for example, a bus has to stop at each bus stop has people waiting and the same thing for the train but when you drive you can just go straight to your destination. When you drive you are in complete control which certain people will feel more comfortable with as opposed to putting your trust in someone else on public transport. Driving doesn't as much inconvenience as public transport.
Disadvantages of driving
The disadvantages of driving can be that it could be dangerous as car accidents can happen. Driving can also be more expensive than public travel as you have to pay for gas and when you get car insurance. Also if an accident were to take place when your driving you take responsibility and have to deal with the consequences while when you take public transport if an accident happens it is nothing to do with you.
Survey
Other Boroughs
This is the Ealing Borough logo. This logo uses a color scheme including colors such as green, black, and white. In logo includes a tree in front of the word Ealing and the tree is green. The word Ealing next to it is in the color white and both the word Ealing and the tree are in front of a black background. I wouldn't say this logo is amazing but nothing more than decent as it is very basic.
Ealing's slogan is "Progress with unity". It was created in 1965 when Ealing merged with the borough of Acton and the borough of Southall. I quite like the slogan and would say it's quite good. I think this because the slogan symbolizes unity within the Ealing community which I think is good.
Transport
There are several ways to transport yourself to Ealing. This includes regular bus routes such as the 83, 207, 427, 607 and N207. These buses, you can catch on the Broadway towards Hanwell to the west and Acton or Hanger Lane both East and North. Their are 65 stops on the High street towards Brentford. You can also get trains to Ealing as well. This includes the Elizabeth Line from Heathrow terminal 5 (from the Rail Station only) to platform 4 and you can also get the Great Western Railway from London Paddington to platform 3 and you can also get that train from from Reading to platform 4 and then again from London Paddington to Platfrom 3. You can also drive to Ealing and can get Cabs and Taxis to and from Ealing. If you are coming from far out you can drive on the M10 motorway to Ealing Broadway.

This is the logo for the London borough of Brent. This is shown to be a simple design using a color scheme including black, green light/dark turquoise, red, purple, pink and orange. The design shows the name of the borough (Brent) written in bold and to the left of it 2 number eights on top of each other with the one on top going to the right and the one to the bottom going to the left. The word Brent is written in black. The number eight on top tilted to the right has a green outline and a dark turquoise in line with a yellow in line for the bottom and a light turquoise outline at the bottom. for the eight under the top eight you have a red outline you have a red outline and a pink outline for the top half and a orange in line and purple outline for the bottom half. I personally think that this logo is quite creative especially with the sign they created to go next (to the left) of the word Brent. I do also think that they could of experimented more with the word Brent instead of just having the one color and simple text for it.
Brent's slogan is "Proud past, promising future". I think this is a great slogan. I think this because it is very inspiring as it teaches us to be proud of our past weather it being good or bad and take what we have learn from it in order to make our future bright. I think it also really captures the importance of community and creates pride and hope.
Transport
1 way to get to Brent is to get the bus. there are many buses that take you to destinations in Brent such as the 18,79,83 and 92. You can also get the train to Brent. You can get the train to Brent from Brentford railway station (BFD) or Brentford Railway station. You can also get the Southerneastern train from London bridge station or the Bakerloo line train from Baker street station. Both of these option will take you to Brent Cross Station. You can also drive to and from Brent or get a cab/taxi to and from Brent.
This is the logo for the London borough of Barnett. It uses a color palette of turquoise and white. In this logo you have the word Barnett written in Bold with each letter written in white seperated in turquoise squares. the 2 words London and borough and written under it in much smaller letter size and just uses the turquoise colour with no white in or outline. I think this design in decent. I especially like how they had the name of the borough written in bold and a special design was allocated for the name. I like color they used for thislogo as it is bright and eye-catching which I think is the right way to go when designing a logo.
The motto for Barnett is Unitas efficit ministerium (which translates to Unity accomplishes service). I think this is a great slogan as it is conveying that, when people are unified they can accomplish great things together which I think is a great mindset for people to have.
Transport
There are many ways to transport yourself to the London borough of Barnett including taking the bus, train, driving or cab/taxi. Buses that go to Barnett would be the 263,326,384 and 606. In terms of the train, you can get the Northern line train on the London underground. You can also drive to and from Barnett or get a cab/taxi to and from there too.
