Top Gun 2= This genre of film is action. This is an action film as there is a lot of fighting, and things getting destroyed. The plot is about the Navy and people who work in the Navy are associated with action. And it includes the central characters going on a mission. There also weapons within this film which makes it an action film.
Scream = I would give this film a horror/mystery film. Firstly the plot backs up this point as it includes murder and mystery as more murders start to occur mysteriously.
Alice In Wonderland= This would be a fantasy film. This is because the film is about a girl name Alice that falls into a rabbit hole into a fictional fantasy land full of anthropomorphic creatures. This proves it to be a fantasy film. Also supernatural events happen which is a typical feature in fantasy films. Fantasy worlds are a typical feature of fantasy films and there is a fantasy world in Alice in wonderland too. There is also magic in Alice wonderland which is a typical feature of fantasy films.
X-Men= The film is an action film. One way that this is an action film is because there is a lot of violence in it. There is a battle between good an evil which is also another typical feature of action films. There are also weapons within this film which are usually included in action films. There are also a lot of special effects within this film which makes it an action film.

How does resolution affect image quality and size = Higher resolutions will mean that there are more pixels per inch which leads to more pixel information and creating a high-quality, clear image. So the higher the rows and columns of the pixels the more the image size will increase.
What are the differences between a jpeg/jpg, png, gif and SVG
A Jpeg = A jpeg is best fitted for photographs and pictures where there is a continious tone, and where darker and lighter areas vary gradually. Jpeg files are also not good for text or sharp edges. Jpges are also lossy which means they reduce file sizes by permanently removing some original data.
GIF = This is suitable for images like comic drawing or clip art with flat areas of colours. Gifs can also be animated. Gifs can also be smaller than some other formats and load quickly. Gifs files support transparency,. and they are also lossless which means that Gifs reduce file size by removing unnecessary data.
Png = Png's (portable network graphics) is a raster graphics file format that support transparency. and are lossless. They are made to work well in online streamed veiwing. Png's can work well with graduated colours.
SVG = Svg's (scalable vector graphics) is a versatile, scriptiable vector format created for the web.
What does scriptable mean = A way of providing instructions to a computer so you can tell it what to do and when to do it.
Theories
Hypodermic syringe theory
This a media theory that media messages are introduced directly into the brains of passive audiences (this is an audience to media material but doesn't engage with the messaging of the content). In the hypodermic syringe theory, the media is seen as significantly powerful and able to influence the minds of an audience that is seen as impressionable, weak, passive and easily influenced by a media message.
Cultivation Theory
The cultivation theory is a media theory that investigates the long-term impact of a media product. This can include television, films, social media and others. The cultivation theory suggests that the more television people watch, the more likely they are to hold a view of reality closer to television depiction's. This also works the same way for other media products. Example of this would be the opinion that playing violent video games would eventually desensitize a person to violence and make them want to replicate the violence that see in the video games.
2 Step flow theory
The 2 step flow theory is a theory that suggests that the media informs and influences their audiences through 2 steps which are: from the media to certain individuals (for example the opinion leaders) and from them to the public.
Uses and gratifications theory
The uses and gartification theory is a media theory that suggests that audiences chooses what they want to watch for 5 different reasons. One of them is information and education which means a veiwere will watch something in order to learn and be informed about a certain topic by watching the news or documentaries. The next reason is for entertainment which simply means veiwers watching something simply for the enjoyment of watching it. The reasons after that would be for personal identity. This means veiwers will watch something because they can identify with a person or product that replicate similar values to themselves or mimic their characteristics. The next reason would be intergration and social interaction. This is when veiwers will watch soemthing to intercat with their peers for example veiwers talking about who the best contestant is on love island or who the best couple is on love island. The last reason would be escapism. This is when video games and action films let veiwers escape real life and imagine themselves in a fictional world of those things.
What are the possible criticisms of the hypodermic syringe model theory? What does the theory assume about the audience.= Some people may argue that that the media can have a large impact on the audience that it is taking it in. For rexample some people may argue that a show that top boy (which is about gangsters in the uk) would have much influence on young kids at about 12-15 as at that age they are impressionable. What the theory assumes about the audience is that they are not inlfuenced that much by the things they seen in the media for example what they seen on tv.
What are the positives and negatives of the 2 step flow theory= A positive is that the 2 step flow theory can help you make more effective and persuasive communication campaigns by identifying and targeting the opinion leaders in your audience
A negative of the 2 step flow theory is that it overlooks the fact that in the current society we live in there is more than just 2 steps within the flow of communication. Some may also argue that the 2 step flow theory underestimates the power of mass media and that it is outdated as based on the rise of social media the way how information flows is different.

Personally, I listen to the advice of the rapper Stormzy. A reason I am sometimes influenced by what Stormzy says is because I feel he is a good person who stands up for the right things. For example, because the University Cambridge does not have that many black students enrolled, stormzy created a scholarship where he pays for black kids to go to Cambridge University. He also stands up for racism. this is why I listen to him because I feel he is a good man who stands for the right things.

The hypodermic syringe theory assumes a passive audience as they believe media messages are injected into the brains of a passive audience and that they are immediately affected by these messages.
The 2 step flow theory suggests a passive audience assume a passive audience as this theory suggests that opinion leaders pick up information from the media and this information gets passed on to less-active memebers of the public.
The uses and gratifications theory suggests that their audiences are not passiev consumers of media but that they have power over their media intake and only uses certain media products (for example watching TV) for entertainment purposes only.

In the first image high key lighting is used. This is evident as fillers lights have been used as well as key lights and back lights. This makes it high key lighting as filler lights are not used low key lighting.
As high key lighting produces brightly lit settings this suggests an upbeat mood and positive message to the audience. This look can showcase truth and openness to the setting. In the image the filler lights are to the left of the picture, the key light is in the middle of the picture and the back light is in the right of the picture.
In the second image low key lighting is used. This is evident as the image is not very well lit but dark and uses a key light. The key light is located in the front/middle of the camera. This look suggests a dark tone/environment to the audience.
In the third image low key lighting is used. This is obvious as the image showcases deep distinct shadows in the background and only uses a back light which is shown in the back of the image to the right. This image also produces sharp contrasts of light and dark areas. This again creates a darker tone/message to the audience
The fourth image uses low key lighting once again. This is evident as the scene is not very bright or well lit. The only source of light in this image is the back light coming from the door behind the woman. This is the kind of dark setting used in low key light images. This image also produces deep distinct shadows and sharp contrasts of light in a dark area. This conveys to the audience a dark, moody and based on the image itself confrontation setting
Analysing Mise en scene
In the first image, the setting shows a forest with a volcano which looks like it's about to explode or already has exploded. It is also snowing in the setting. This shows that that the film takes place in the winter and that it may be adventure type of film. In terms of the costume, the picture shows an image of a grown man and little kid and the man is wearing a suit. This suggest that the man may be a quite smart and respectable man. The little boy is dressed in a a coat and hat which again emphasises the coat. In terms of body language the man is carrying the little boy on his back which signifies the man may have rescued the little boy from some type of trouble. In terms of their facial expression the man and the kid look quite worn out which signifies they must have been through a lot of trouble. The lighting used in this image is high key lighting. This is evident as there are more filter lights and the lighting is natural and realistic.
In the second image, for the setting, we have a man sitting in the forest. This can indicate that the film/series is of a horror/adventure type of genre as films/series of that genre take place in the forest. For props, we have a chair and a laptop with the man using the laptop and the man sitting on the chair. This can indicate to the audience that the plot of the film/series is about a man maybe camping in the forest as he is sitting comfortably and using a laptop so by the looks of it he is staying there for a while. For costume the man is wearing casual clothes which suggest a relax and informal atmosphere. In terms of the man's body language, he is sitting with his feet up and lying down on the chair which suggests that he is quite relaxed. His face appears to be very surprised at something above him as his eyes is open wide. For lighting and colour high-key lighting is being used. This is evident as a filler light is being used and more natural light is being used. This shows that the mood of the scene is upbeat and positive as opposed to a dark setting that would promote a dark mood.
In the third image for the setting we have a man 2 people (a man and a woman) between a blue backdrop. The setting would be conveyed to be a cold environment as there is snow in the man and woman's hair. There are no props that appear to be used. In terms of costume, hair and make-up we have the man and woman wearing casual clothes.In terms of facial expression the man and woman are positioned closely opposite each other and their hands are touching. This suggests that there is romantic tension between the man and the women. High key lighting is used. This suggests again promotes a positive mood.

What will I do for each poster (production planning)
If I were to do a Dancehall theme event poster there are several things I would to to present it. One thing I would do is use a specific colour palette. I would use colours such as yellow, green and black. I would use these colours for the colour palette as dancehall music is music that originates from Jamaica and yellow, green and black are colours associated with the Jamaican culture as they are the colours used on the Jamaican Flag. 
I would also include what artists would be played on the poster. I would also include the details of the address and how long the event will last.
Valentines Event.
If I was do a valentines event one thing I would do is use colours such red and pink and white. I would do this as these are colours associated with the valentines culture I would also add a heart emoji and a flowers logo as these are things associated with the valentines culture. I would also put a tag line on the poster to emphasise the theme for the event for example "make sure you ring your lover".
Ice Skating Party
If I was to do a skating party to decorate the poster advertisement I would put ice skates on the cover and put emoji's like snow flakes. I would also advertise other features that will be held at the event for example if I was gonna have music I would advertise what type of music would be played or put a picture of the DJ that will be playing that night.
Roller Skating Event
If I was to do a roller skating event I would also put an animated logo of roller skates on the cover to represent the theme. I would also use a variety of colours on the poster as well and include the necessary details including the date, time and location.
High School Prom
If I was to do a high school prom what thing I would do is put an animated shadow man and woman on the poster to represent the event as at proms high school kids typically have dates. I would advertise some of the things that will happen at the prom to let the kids know what is gonna happen and I would have tag lines to make the kids want to come tot he event.

Line is explored in this image as staright lines are used to seperate the different images for each year. Lighting Key lighting= Key lighting is the most important and brightest source of light when taking a picture or making a video. The key light is placed to the side of the camera and pointed to the scene of the subject. There are 2 types of key lighting. High key lighting and low key lighting. When High-key lighting is used it results in brightly lit frame. In photography, film and television, high key lighting uses minimal shadows and low contrast. Low key lighting is the opposite of high-key lighting. Low-key lighting, when used, produces shadows, high contrast and dark tones. Fill light= This type of lighting is used to fill the shadows of a specific shot. fill lighting is secondary to key lighting. When fill light is used to soften the shadows in a shot to create less contrast. Fill light is used as a neutraliser. Fill light can also be used to create a soft dream-like effect. Background Lighting= Background lighting is used to emphasise the background area of the set of a video or picture. The background light also provides seperation between the main subject and the background. When background light is used it can add depth to what it is your creating. In order to provide much the much needed seperation between the main subject and background, the background light will usually have a color filter. Background light is used differently in different projects. For example in video and television the background light is mainly of similar intensity to the key light because the video cameras are that capable of handaling high contrast ratio's. On the other hand, in film. The background light is of a lower intensity. Also in film when background lighting is used more than one light can be used to light a background or to highlight points of interest. Camera Mounted Flash= The camera mounted flash is a type of strobe light (a device used to produce regular flashes of light) that connects directly to your camera. While typically the camera mounted flash is known to be on camera it can actually be used off camera as well. This offers users greater control and better lighting options. Camera mounted flash lights also have their own power supply and many can contain external power supplies to overall improve their performance. The camera mounted flash is used to add more light and allow you to acheive more attarctive and consistent light. .  This is high key lighting. The high key lighting is shown as the lighting in the picture is bright and in a brightly lit frame.  This is an example of low key lighting as the picture is shown in a dark and shadow tone.   This is an example of background light being used. Background light is evident as you can clearly seen the environment (which is a classroom) behind the main subject of the picture which is the female actor. Primary And Secondary Research Differences between Primary and Seconday Research Primary Research= Primary Research is research carried that has never been collected before. Primary Research methods are carried out through interviews, surveys, observations or any sort of information you investigated to find out yourself. Secondary Research= Secondary Research is the opposite of primary research. Secondary research is data collected that was found out by someone else. What would be a good use for a sans-serif typeface I would say that a serif font would be a good use for a sans-serif type font. This is because serif fonts are aunthoritive and professional.
Fashion Photography
Fashion photography is a type of photography is a type of photography that specially advertises clothing and fashion items. Fashion photography is mostly found on advertising billboards and fashion magazines. Fashion photography usually takes place in a photographic studio in a private outside setting. A fashion model is typically used for fashion photography. It is used to advertise clothing.
Editorial= Editorial fashion photography mainly focuses on on the artistic expression of a photo and capturing a certain mood or theme. Editorial fashion photography focuses on storytelling in their advertising Advertising= Advertising photography is photography that specialises creating images for promoting and advertising agendas. The main objective in advertising photography is to create an image that will attract your target audience and generate interest in the product your advertising. Beauty Photography= Beauty photography is a genre of photography that includes shooting close up images of subjects (typically models) emphasising their most attractive features in use for advertising, editorial, commercial or personal use. Models used in beauty photography usually given make-up treatment. Hard Light= In photography hard light is harsh, directional and create strong shadows. Hard light has more contrast and usually very bright. Hard light can be used to add a dramatic effect to the light. Planning for prom photographic poster When I make my photographic poster I would want to have an original photo. Ideally a photo of people dressed up so represent the culture of a high school prom as the typical dress code to a high school prom is formal dressing. I would like to maybe have a tagline on my poster. Something that would encourage the kids to get a ticket to go to the prom and showcase it as an event not to be missed. I would also want to create a title to the poster that stands out and is very eye-catching. The last thing I would want is to include all the necessary details for example when and where the prom is. Plan for Graphic Poster When I make my graphic poster one thing I would like to do is, like my photographic poster create a title to the poster with a bold-eye catching font to make the poster stand out. This would appeal to the kids more as appose to a simple prom poster with a simple title and font. I would also like to include a variety of different prom the represent the culture of a high school prom for example maybe balloons as since prom is a celebration for the year 11's finishing high school balloons are probably gonna be featured at the prom venue. Or maybe a suit and dress to represent the dress code of prom. I again would like to include a tag-line that is simple yet still encouraging to the kids to come to the event. Like I plan to on my photographic poster, I plan to include all the necessary details about the prom on the poster. Plan for social media header For my social media header, When creating it the social media platform I feel is best suitable for this event would be twitter. I plan to use twitter as I can posts tweets about the event and keep the kids updated about everything as I can't include every single detail on the prom poster. I would include two pictures as on a twitter page I there is a main photo spread across the page and a smaller circular photo over it. I would also like to include a picture that the prom will be held in and a photo of maybe kids at a past prom as the other photo. I plan to name my page venue 5 prom and make it a private account that only kids from nower hill high school can access. Primary Research for Prom posters When I was doing primary Research I decided to ask people in and out of my class what they would of like to have seen on their high school prom poster being advertised to them. Hannah= " I would of like to see a prom poster that is eye-catching. A poster that showcases what the celebration is about. A prom poster that shows how good the prom will be and why I should come. I would also like my prom poster to provide all the main details about it so I know how eveything is going to work" Ibrahim= " I want a prom poster that advertises prom to be as good as people will say it would be. It would also like a prom poster that provided us with the neccesary details of the event instead of a letter telling us irelevant and useless information. I would also like a prom poster that has a picture of maybe a passed prom to showcase to us how the event is gonna go. Charlie= "I would like a prom poster that stands out from other prom posters. I would like it to be decorative and imaginative to increase my desire to want to come to the event and to convince that it is not going to be a boring high school occasion. Secondary Research When I was researching photographic posters one thing I found is that there are not that many photographic ones so I really had to dig deep into the internet to find one. However one thing I did find is that most photographic posters include of people dressed up as the cover photo of the poster so that is what I'm going to do. There are also tag-lines featured in the photographic posters I looked up so I hope to add a tag-line in my one. The ones I feel that stand out are the ones with the most eye-catching title so I would like to do so with my own personal photographic poster When researching for my graphic poster One thing I found is that they all have decorations that represent the event. For example there were disco balls, flowers, dresses, suits and the things that represent the high school prom season. The graphic posters I researched also Included all the details about the upcoming event which is something to I plan to do when I create my graphic posters. When researching social media headers I looked at a variety of examples and guides that showed how to make professional looking social media headers. One thing I found is that a lot of social media headers are clear about what they are advertising. So what I did was tried to make what I was advertising as clear as possible. So what I did was make what I was advertising clear in my title (which is venue 5 prom) and convey what I'm advertising through the pictures also.  Photographic Poster Evaluation When designing my photo poster I decided to personally choose a photo from my own personal set of photos from my own prom. I considered taking an image of other people but I feel that this image is best suited for the poster. This is because the photo was taken at an actual prom so it gives the photo a sense of realism as opposed to getting a picture of a boy and girl, dressed up behind a backdrop. I also wanted a picture of a boy and a girl as at proms kids like to have dates to proms so I chose this photo to represent that culture. I also wanted a picture of a boy and a girl dressed up, as this best suits the occasion as the dress code for high school proms is formal. I included specific details about the prom for example when it is so the kids know how long they have to get ready for it. I also included what time it starts and ends on the poster as well. I included a tagline that said, " Be there to not miss the highlights of high school". I included that tagline as I wanted to emphasise the importance of prom to high school culture, as prom is something looked forward to by high school students and is typically a very fun event for high school students. I also chose this turquoise colour and that specific font as it stands and it is very eye-catching which makes this poster stand out more.  Social Media Header. When making my social media header I decided to go on Twitter. I did this as Twitter is a very popular platform, especially with the youth of today. Twitter was also the best platform to use as I could post tweets relevant to prom in case there were any updates or changes going on with the event. When creating my social media header I first set up a Twitter account. Once that was done instead of doing a social media header on my own account I decided to go on another social media account and edit it into my own social media header. The account that I edited belonged to the fashion designer Rick Owens. The first thing I changed was the amount of followers. Rick Owens has 38.6K followers on twitter but I changed it to 300. This is because this twitter page is for a 1 year group of year 11's for a specific school so it didn't make sense to leave the amount of followers at that number as 1 year group won't have that amount of people in it so I changed the amount of followers to 300 as that is a normal amount of people a typical High School will have. I then of course changed the name of the twitter page from Rick Owens To Venue 5 prom as that is I decided the prom is taking place. A problem that I did come across was that, because this prom is taking place in 2024 I attempted to try change where it says "Joined December 2010" to 2024 but the twitter page didn't allow me to do so. When adding photos I decided to add a picture of the actual venue (Venue 5) into the circle icon at the top of the page. I did this to showcase to the students what the venue is going to like inside. And then for the main photo I added the picture that I used for my photographic poster. I did this because I thought it was best suitable to showcase the culture of prom for example a formal dress code (as I am wearing a suit and the girl next to me is wearing a formal dress) and again the culture of a boy and a girl going together to prom.  Graphic Poster Evaluation When I was making my graphic poster the first thing I did was choose a background. I decided to choose a grey background as I feel I could do the most experimentation with a grey background as with some backgrounds when you use certain colors for things they can tend to not blend in well or match well but grey more a less goes with everything. The next thing I did was look at other Graphic Posters to get some ideas and inspiration. One thing I found was that most graphic posters advertising a prom include an animated prom dress or suit so what I decided to do was add that to my poster. At first I tried to add a prom suit with a man wearing it (in animated form) and tried to do the same thing for the woman. But for some reason photoshop kept blurring out the faces or making the faces look patchy every time I did this so in the end I just added a regular animated suit and dress with no animated people wearing it. Then I added some props to represent the occasion. This Included adding a disco ball and balloons. I added balloons as prom is an event of celebration and when celebrations take place balloons are typically there. I added the disco ball as a disco ball is representation for music and at proms music is always played so it seemed fitting to add. One thing I did when adding a disco ball was edit it from silver to gold. I did this because I wanted it to stand out different to most posters that use a disco ball because when disco balls are shown they are mostly shown in a silver color. I then used a dark blue font for the text in my poster. This is because I feel that this font is very eye-catching and stands out, similar to the reason I used the font and color I did in my photographic poster. I also included a tag-line that says "A night to remember". This seemed like a fitting tag-line to use as prom is known to be memorable, celebrational memory when finishing high school so I used that tag-line to emphasise to the students how much they don't want miss the event. I then include when the prom will be (may 10th 2024/7-11PM) and where the prom will be (Venue 5/Ruislip). I did this as these are neccesary details that need to be emphasised when advertising an event. When choosing a date, I found most proms take place In the summer (as did mine which was in may) and Nower Hill High School is the school I went and also advertisng the prom to I chose a friday In may which is before GCSE's start. What went well when I was creating my high school photographic poster was that I used fonts for the writing on my poster that stood out and was very eye-catching. I used a photo that represented the prom culture as I used a photo of me and and girl dressed up at a prom. This represented prom culture as kids dress formal to prom and sometimes a boy and a girl like to go together. I achieved my goal of representing the culture of prom. A challenge was finding fonts to write my text in that stood out, but was also clear and not blending in with the cover photo When creating my Graphic poster what went well was that I was able to add decorations to the poster that represent the prom culture for example, I added a disco ball, balloons, a prom suit and a prom dress. Another thing that went well was that I used an eye-catching font. I also was able to edit one of the props I used to represent the prom. This was the disco ball. I turned it from silver to gold. What could of gone better was if I managed my time more effectively as I wanted to edit the other celebrations props but ran out of time. What went well when creating my social media header was that I successfully was able to create one of the platform I originally wanted to use. I was able to get a photo of venue 5 which I was able to paste into the circular photo which covers the main rectangular cover photo. I also got a photo which represented the prom season which was the photo I used for my photographic poster. I problem I faced was that I wasn't able to make my account private which is something I wanted to do as since it's a prom for a specific school I wanted to be able to make the account private for only the students of Nower hill high school to access but since I didn't use my own account (as I just edited rick Owen's one) i wasn't able to do so. |
